Rare Astronomical Event Today

Scientists and astronomy enthusiasts gathered today in California and Hawaii to observe a once in a lifetime “transit” of the planet Venus across the face of the Sun. Β One photographer captured this image of the event at the height of the transit, as Venus slowly moved its curvaceous form across the blazing sweaty surface…. ahem.

Different people see different things in this image, but scientists are unanimous in cautioning against staring too long with the unaided eye, or when your wife is in the room.

  1. Ok, I need to apologize to anyone whose monitor is good enough to allow you to see the details of this woman’s back. When I first posted it, my stupid monitor displayed this image such that the woman, or “Venus,” was a total sihouette, not unlike the actual planet Venus during the transit yesterday, hence the post. Honestly, her image was totally black and without detail. Mrs. Grunt has just informed me that on our other computer monitor, she has skin. Lots of it. Man, am I embarrassed, and possibly in trouble. Not sure why I’m the one in trouble, since she is obviously the one spending too much time staring at nudes, but that’s a non-winnable argument for another time. Point is, this was all a mistake. A terrible mistake. Not so terrible that I’m going to take it down right away, since it’s probably not really offensive or technically obscene. Still, I’m going to try to photoshop it to darken it up and make it a true silhouette. Just so you know.

I do not see that spot thing anywhere. Mrs. Tex is not in the room either. πŸ˜€

    • Well, dammit. You’re not looking hard enough! πŸ˜€ True story: Mrs. Grunt came by while I was working on this and said, “Hey, when did you get that pic of ME?” *snort* No Comment!!! I mean… That’s you sweetheart! Snapped it in a casual moment when you weren’t looking. πŸ˜€ That Mrs. Grunt is the best, not unlike the Senora de Casa de Tex, prolly. Can’t imagine what SHE puts up with… πŸ˜‰

I might have tried the old – “It was an art project from college” – but I think Mrs. Tex would know better! πŸ˜€

  3. Now what was all the fuss about? Reponses to a bare asstrinomical event today?
Yeah, this is a family G rated placd Grunt. What wuz yer thinkin? Even if you have to look at the sun to see Venus anyway! Sheesh! πŸ˜‰
