I always felt that sword fighting (even in the Olympics) should take the form of European dueling, where a scar on the cheek (rather than opening a throat) is the mark of a champion. The sterile world of fencing and even saber has no appeal to me. Some will say that the current ‘art’ emphasizes skill, but I always felt that skill against an unbated blade meant more than the certainty of leaving the arena.

Haha! Could be straight out of Python.

I’ve always fancied having a go at fencing; it’s like dancing with a weapon.

Many years ago I was enrolled in the local community college. A young Olympic fencer offered Saturday classes through the college. I happen to have two left feet, but decided to take the class. It was one of the most fun classes I ever signed up for. My only regrets were, and still are, that I had been in better shape, more agile. Great class. Good vid. Thanks.

  4. Brig says:

A lost to time skill now, I took fencing in high school and it was challenging. But Heck, Bee if we get good scotch and a decent steak out of these boys, we could do this… who would your second be?
